The Fate of the Emerald Eel (Sea Shanty)
[Verse 1]
Oh, gather 'round, ye salty dogs, I'll spin a tale so grim,
Of a mighty ship called the Emerald Eel with sails so tall and trim.
She carved her path through stormy seas, a jewel of the crown,
But a shadow loomed on midnight tides, where the Donny Bell went down.
[Chorus]
Oh, the Emerald Eel, she fought so brave, beneath the moonlit swell,
But none return to tell the tale of crossing the Donny Bell.
Her sailors' cries still haunt the sea, where ghostly shadows dwell,
For every soul was bound in chains aboard the Donny Bell.
[Verse 2]
It came upon a foggy gale, a phantom broadside roared,
The ghostly ship with spectral crew had fires that never soared.
Its tattered sails, like funeral shrouds, dragged darkness through the brine,
And Captain Grey of the Emerald Eel swore, 'This night, she'll not take mine!'
[Verse 3]
With cannonballs and flashing steel, the Eel unleashed its wrath,
And for a time, it seemed as though she'd carve herself a path.
But spectral hulls and otherworlds defied what man could wield,
Each sailor slain was raised again as thralls who'd never yield.
[Bridge]
The Donny Bell, the cursed ship, a specter of the deep,
Her captain’s name, none dare to speak, his wrath shall never sleep.
The crew of old, all damned and cold, in chains of ghostly green,
And now the Emerald Eel's men join, lost evermore, unseen.
[Verse 4]
At dawn’s first light, no mast was seen, just flotsam on the waves,
And whispers spread of fates unknown, of watery, briny graves.
But sailors say when the moon is high, and storms begin to swell,
You’ll hear the cries of the Emerald Eel aboard the Donny Bell.
[Final Chorus]
Oh, the Emerald Eel, she fought so brave, beneath the moonlit swell,
But none return to tell the tale of crossing the Donny Bell.
Her sailors' cries still haunt the sea, where ghostly shadows dwell,
For every soul was bound in chains aboard the Donny Bell.
[Outro]
So raise your glass, ye sons of the tide, and pray you never sail,
In haunted wakes of ghostly crews or hear their mournful wail.
For the Emerald Eel is lost, my lads, but her story we must tell,
Of her glorious fight, her harrowing night, with the cursed Donny Bell.
